FOCUS: REGENERATIVE MEDIZIN
It is not always necessary to operate or to apply a chemical club to treat chronic or acute diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Thanks to the new, so-called regenerative biomedicine, which applies endogenous substances such as bone marrow derived cell-proteins (BMC) and plasma (BMP), also called orthobiotics in combination with hyaluronic acid and amino acids, today we can apply low-risk therapy concepts with significantly reduced side effects, especially for patients with secondary diseases.
After a long period of operative and non-operative work in orthopedic clinics and against the background that surgeries are applied far too frequently and performed prematurely today, I decided to fully focus on minimally invasive, non-surgical injection techniques in orthopedics since 2008.
I consider it essential to have a good and transparent communication and collaboration with the patient and the accompanying physiotherapists and osteopaths in order to achieve a long-term therapeutic success.
CAREER
Dr. med. Michael John, Orthopedic Specialist
Medical studies: LMU Munich
Phd: University Aachen
Dr John is a specialist in surgical and non-surgical orthopedics. He gained his surgical experience at the treatment center in Vogtareuth under Chief Physician Dr. Harald Eckhardt with a focus on endoprosthetics, spinal surgery, sports injuries and rehabilitation and in the field of pediatric orthopedics under chief physician Dr. Corell at the Children´s Hospital in Aschau. After completing his residency training, Dr. John for more than 10 years served as a senior physician at the Munich based Alpha Clinic with Dr. Thomas Hoogland. Focus of this clinic was minimally invasive spinal surgery and interventional pain therapy on the spine. His scientific work (2003-2007) on a new, endoscopic surgical technique for degenerative disc disease sparked his interest in regenerative therapies in orthopedics and in particular in adult stem cells. The results of this scientific work show that adult stem cells, which were introduced from the bone marrow of the lumbar vertebrae into painfully dried out intervertebral discs by means of abrasion of the bone, were able to form a new, functional intervertebral disc nucleus and thus successfully relieve the pain symptoms (Source: M.John, T. Hoogland et al: The percutaneous, transforaminal, endoscopic disc abrasion: A new interventional therapy for the regeneration of painfully degenerative lumbar intervertebral discs, 2007).
From 2008 to 2010 was Dr. John chief doctor at the Beta Klinik in Bonn and senior orthopedist at the X-Cell Center ( based in Cologne and Düsseldorf.
Dr. John opened his own private practice for orthopedics in Leipzig and Schweinfurt in 2010 focusing entirely on non-surgical therapy concepts.
Dr John has been a member of the since 2008 German Society for Regenerative Medicine. He is an active athlete himself and can always be found walking or jogging with his dog in nature.
